Stay Scary is a horror movie podcast hosted by Yinh Kiefer and Lisa McColgan. A rotating cast of artists and geeks join on to discuss themes and tropes in horror movies past and present.

Episodes

Let's take a stroll down Amnesia Lane, to a time when liking Dungeons & Dragons, heavy metal music, and (gasp!) horror movies could get you accused of worshipping....SATAN.  Yinh and Lisa are joined by author and musician Matt Ferrara. Join us on a dark journey where even Cabbage Patch Kids could summon the dark lord.  And by "dark lord," we mean Tony Danza.

Also - the Great Molasses Flood of 1919, cursing ghosts, and the terrible story of Jolly Jane Toppan.  Listen in as we battle ambient crowd noises and nearby hand dryers.

We're in the double digits now, episode-wise, so why not talk about siblings?  Yinh and Lisa chew the familial gristle with return guest Jonathan Woodard (The Wrong Chaneys).  The Shining Sisters, Baby Jane and Blanche, Michael and Laurie...plus the usual tangents. Shirtless Saxophone Guy, spitting in little tubes, and how to deal with five inches of pig blood in your basement.

Episode 9 - Storytime!

Lisa and Yinh get cozy with a cheese board at Lisa's house, and tell stories!  Yinh reads a spoooooky short story by Matt Ferrara [author of the novel An Ocean of Maybe (2016) as well as the short story collection Young Drunks in Love (2001) and the poetry collection Five Seeds Enclosed in a Capsule (2002)].  Lisa just rants about changelings and the con artist who managed to pose as a 7 year old orphan.  Along the way - we talk cheese, dusty slits, and doll heads.  Pull up a chair!

Episode 7 - Origin Stories

It's Lisa's birthday, so we talk origin stories.  How the Hell Priest (aka Pinhead), Chucky, Freddy Krueger, and other horror figures came to be.  Also - Lisa gets fucking hippie foot soak from Yinh as a birthday present, but she refuses to call it anything other than "bath salts."  Plus - how to talk like a 1940s movie star.  This week's guest: Kevin Coombs.
